Olsen also develops and edits books for other authors, and in that capacity he has more than 50 titles to his credit. Recent work includes A GOLDEN AGE: SURFING'S REVOLUTIONARY 1960S AND '70S by John Witzig; and CULTURE, ARCHITECTURE & NATURE: AN ECOLOGICAL DESIGN RETROSPECTIVE by Sim Van der Ryn. Olsen is also the originating editor behind MODERNISM REBORN: MID-CENTURY AMERICAN HOUSES; NATURE, FORM & SPIRIT: THE LIFE AND LEGACY OF GEORGE NAKASHIMA; TREEHOUSES OF THE WORLD; LIVING LARGE IN SMALL SPACES; THE ABRAMS GUIDE TO AMERICAN HOUSE STYLES; THE ABRAMS GUIDE TO PERIOD STYLES FOR INTERIORS; THE HAWAIIAN HOUSE NOW; and COTTAGES BY THE SEA: THE HANDMADE HOMES OF CARMEL. Outside of the architecture/design category, Olsen conceived and edited the 2003 bio-epic eponymous book on artist-filmmaker Julian Schnabel and Drew Kampion's THE WAY OF THE SURFER.
